Odette shook her head at John's apology and looked up at him in his dragon form for the first time that night. He was so different now...Before, he had been a strong king in strategy but now he was strong in the physical aspect too. He felt so different. "It's alright...thank you. That was something I should have done long ago I just..." Her words died off as another dragon appeared and confusion filled her. John seemed to know this one too. She had never seen him speak so freely like that before...and their little banter made a wave of jealousy wash over her. She used to be the only one that John spoke to like that...When Aurora introduced herself, the words bondmate made Odette look at John in shock. John even tried to explain it but she didn't care. All she could picture was a relationship between this woman and her husband. A relationship she knew nothing about...Odette stayed silent for a moment, just staring before she felt Morgana tugging on her skirt to snap her out of it. "Forgive me...it's just...it's a lot to take in. You've been alive and with.." Odette could feel her mind reeling and she didn't quite know what to do until Morgana tugged on her skirt harder. "Mommy...I want to go home now..." Her little words came out soft and Odette held the child against her. Though..where was home now? If they went back to the castle, there's no telling who Jafar could still have on his side.

John glanced down at Morgana when she spoke up and his expression softened, if he wasn't covered in blood he might have tried approaching her. She was the perfect mix between him and Odette, and he wanted to get to know her. Aurora glanced at their daughter and studied her thoughtfully with her head slightly tilted to the side. "She's been given powerful demon blood...did you know that?" She asked John. Of course she had noticed, she was after all the expert John had had in mind, "Yes...do you have any suggestions?" He asked hesitantly. Aurora frowned and then shifted into her human form, "May I?" She asked as she stepped towards Odette. "I promise I won't hurt your child in any way...I just need to know how I can best help her." She said as gently as she could. "She really won't hurt Morgana Odette." He said having a feeling that Odette might not react well...after all she had had quite a trying day.

Morgana clung to Odette's skirt, her soft little voice just barely whispering that she wanted to go home over and over again. Odette looked up as Aurora shifted into a human form but she gently moved Morgana behind her as the woman neared. There was something about her that Odette didn't trust...As John tried to reassure her, Odette's gaze darkened and she straightened. "You may trust her John but we have only just met...and you've only just returned. I've already made enough mistakes in the past two years and I will not do it again. I think my daughter has already been through enough for one night and I would like to take her home now. She'll be fine for tonight...this matter can wait." Odette lifted Morgana into her arms and turned to face the castle. Even though she was sure this was John, a part of her still had to learn to trust again.

Aurora raised an eyebrow at Odette's tone but thoughtfully chose not to comment, her eyes flicked over towards John and she smirked at him knowingly. "Seems like your wife doesn't like me so much." She said once Odette was out of earshot. John sighed, "She's still adjusting...give her time." He said gently. Aurora nodded and then frowned, "What haven't you shifted yet?" She asked curiously. "If you stay here with me...well she might continue getting the wrong idea about us." She pointed out. John blinked honestly having not considered the implications of that. "I'll go to her in a moment...but first I was wondering if you could help me with something." He said and concentrated a moment before throwing the staff back up. Aurora's nose wrinkled as she stared down at it with a disgusted look on her face, "I recognize that...I can see why you stayed in dragon form." She said after a moment as she crouched to examine it closer. "This thing reeks of dark magic...the kind anyone with any sense would do good to stay away from." She said giving John a pointed look. "I didn't exactly have time to come up with a better plan." John said with a shrug. Aurora raised an eyebrow at that but chose not to comment, "Well hopefully I'll be able to take a better look at your daughter soon. I know Odette doesn't trust me, but if she won't then your daughter could be in even worse condition." She said with a frown. John shifted uncomfortably, "I'll talk to her." He said knowing that it might take some time for Odette to relent on her earlier declaration. "Speaking of which, you should go and talk to her...I'll examine the staff, maybe I'll find something important about it." She said giving the staff a distasteful look. John nodded and shifted back into his human form before he hurried off into the castle, intent on finding Odette.

Odette had managed to get Morgana cleaned up and in bed despite the thoughts running through her mind. Morgana didn't even fight her when it was time to go to sleep...Odette didn't blame her. The poor girl had been through so much in just a few hours, not to mention what Jafar had done to her too. Now that she knew what Jafar had been doing to her daughter, Odette felt like a failure. All she had done was try and protect Morgana but instead she made things worse. Much worse. Her hands shook as she went back to her room and undressed. Before she slid on her nightdress, she looked at her naked form in the mirror and frowned. Dark fingermarks still showed on her hips, thighs and upper arms from Jafar and she cringed. She was even still sore from the way he took her just that morning...It was hard to believe that he was finally dead. Odette sighed and put on her nightdress before tugging her robe around her form, moving back towards the nursery to stay with Morgana. On the way though, she suddenly felt everything that had happened hit her all at once. She paused and leaned against the wall in the hallway, trying to take deep breaths to calm herself down.. How could she have even imagined any of this happening? And all in one day nonetheless. It was so overwhelming. Her husband had been alive the whole time...and with another woman while she and her daughter had been here. Though she wasn't as upset about that as she was about herself and how easily she had given in to Jafar...John would think she was so weak...

John hurried towards Odette's room, and hesitated, he had managed to clean himself up somewhat. He was more nervous then he had been in years...seeing Odette again like this was making him worry that perhaps she had moved on. The last time he had seen her she had stabbed him in the back, of course Jafar had been the one to blame for that. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, messing it up still further and sighed before he knocked on the door. In his hand he held a box that contained a necklace and in the other he had one that held some chocolates. It seemed a pitiful offering for the woman who had suffered for so long and who clearly no longer trusted him. What if she rejected him? He wouldn't be able to blame her if she did so, hell he should have done so much more for her. If he could, he would go back and do whatever he could to bring her back. His thoughts went back to what Aurora had said, Odette really had looked pretty upset after she had shown up. Then again Odette probably assumed the worst in regards to what Aurora had said about their relationship. Even though being a bondmate simply meant the two were like siblings in a way.

Odette looked up when she heard a knock on the door and her heart sped up. She had managed to avoid the guards on the way in here...had they followed her? Her gaze moved over towards the door that lead to the nursery and she bit her lip. Morgana needed rest. If it was the guards, maybe she could at least stall them until morning. Odette left the little hallway and moved back into her room. Her hand hovered over the handle for a moment before she swallowed and opened the door just enough so she could peek out. To her surprise, John was standing right there. "John...I wasn't expecting you..." Odette looked at him and hesitated before she eventually opened the door so he could come in. "Come in...but if you came for Morgana, you're too late. She's already asleep and I don't want to wake her." Odette closed the door behind him once he entered and she crossed her arms in front of her chest. Her gaze took him in and she noted that he looked a little nervous. She thought about what she had said back in the garden and she wondered if she was right. Was he in a relationship with that woman? Is that why he had come here so late?

John shifted uncomfortably as the door finally opened and he gave Odette a small smile. She looked as lovely as ever but his eyes noticed some discoloration on her body...that looked disturbingly like bruises. He stepped in and held up the boxes, "I uh...first of all I want to apologize for not arriving sooner. I should have but if I had I might have um...done a lot worse damage. I was very destructive when I first transformed-" He broke off and then glanced over at Odette. "I understand that you need your space and I....I can wait for however long it takes. All I ask is that I can...be a part of Morgana's life, I'd like to be her father. I know it's selfish of me...I should have done so much more and I never did. I promise I'll prove my dedication to the both of you, you both mean the world to me. I'm going to try and fix everything that Jafar has done here...starting with you and our daughter. I promise you that...I hope you can believe me on that." He said and knew it would probably be best if he didn't try kissing her. The last thing he wanted to do was make her feel even more confused and hurt which that would no doubt do.

As John entered the room, Odette noticed him glancing at her skin and she closed her robe a little tighter. She didn't want him to see the marks Jafar had left on her. It made her sick just to know that they were even there. Her gaze landed on the boxes but she didn't smile. He was either trying to win her over with little gifts or trying to cover for wanting to leave her. "Um..Thanks." She whispered as she took the boxes from him and gently set them down on the table. "You don't need to apologize John. You've got your own life now, I don't expect you to-" Though her words cut off when he said that he wanted to be part of Morgana's life. She stared at him in confusion and then her gaze moved to the hallway that led to the nursery before she looked at him again. "You...you want to stay? I uh...I was expecting you to be leaving. With.." Odette shook her head when she realized that she was about to mention Aurora and start rambling.

It was John's turn to stare at Odette with a disbelieving look in his eyes, "Leave? Why would I-" He broke off and ran a hand through his hair, "You think I would leave with Aurora." He stated, disappointment in his voice as he said this. "Aurora's like a sister to me, I don't love her in a romantic way. The only person I've ever loved has been you...and I'm not going to leave you by yourself. Not when I've missed you so much....not when I haven't gotten a chance to know our daughter." He started pacing around restlessly. "I see you and...I know you've probably been through hell while I've been gone, and all I want is to alleviate that pain somehow. And yet I know I have no place in either." He quietly admitted as he took a step back. "I love you, but I will understand if you need your space. I'll wait as long as it takes...for you I would wait a thousand years." He said honestly.

Odette felt her eyes widen at the tone of disappointment in John's voice...and then he went on to say that Aurora was like a sister to him. Jealousy filled her and she looked away from him, shifting as irritation filled her. "Well you can't blame me. Not after I saw how she treats you...and what you think of her as. I was your sister too at one point and you didn't even bother to try and tell me you were alive before tonight. I would have understood you staying away but you didn't even try." She said suddenly, her frustration clearly in her voice. Years with Jafar had made her more outspoken than she had ever been and now that she didn't have to worry about being punished for speaking, everything was pouring out. Odette ran a hand through her hair before she turned and looked out the window. "You don't know how many times I almost gave up. How many times I almost killed myself and Morgana just so we could be with you. If I had, you would have had no one to come back for and you would have forgotten all about us. I don't want your pity John. I've raised her on my own for two years. You had your chances...it's going to take some time for me to even consider giving you another one..." Odette knew that John would be upset with her but she didn't care.

John took a step away from her at her words, everything she said was basically confirming his worst fears. It honestly felt like be had been stabbed in the chest but so much worse. For a few moments he couldn't bring himself to say anything as he stared at her lost for words. He jerkily nodded in understanding, "I....I see...you're right I didn't try hard enough and I should have. I've never done what I could for either of you and I do apologize." His eyes moved towards where Morgana rested and a sad look hit his face before he looked away. When he looked back up, his expression was difficult to read, "I won't dishonor you or o-your child, please know that you'll be well protected here. If you wish to leave at any time I won't stop you, anything you want is yours." He said and bowed before he took a step away from her, "Goodnight....Odette." He said quietly before he left her quarters. His heart hurt, he hated arguing and when it was Odette...it was even worse, they rarely argued. In fact John couldn't remember the last time they had fought about anything, other then the few times she had snapped at him for being too overprotective. John flinched as he felt his dragon side nearly clawing at him, he growled and stepped out into the courtyard. His fingers had turned into talons, deadly and sharp and they were currently digging into his palms but he paid them no mind. "John....you need to calm down." Aurora's voice came from behind him and John grimaced. "I am calm Aurora." His voice betraying that he was far from it. "I can't keep locking your dragon self away when you get like this." Aurora cautioned and John stared down at his hands which looked strange even to him. "Do you think it's because of what I am? Does me being a dragon disgust her that much?" He asked quietly. Aurora frowned, "She doesn't hate you....anyone who loves you would be able to see past all that." She said quietly. John laughed but his laugh was grim, "You mean like how it went for you?" He asked. Aurora fell silent, her face turning pale at his words. "That's not fair." She whispered and turned away from him. "Your boyfriend almost killed you when he found out you were a dragon! And when Odette looks at me-She's right...I didn't do enough for her." He said all the anger draining out of him then. "You could barely help yourself...the transition almost killed you. And the scars-" Aurora broke off with a wince. The first time John had fully transformed had been a nightmare, she'd honestly thought he wouldn't survive it. The weeks following hadn't been any better as John had been more beast then man, unable to differentiate between friend or foe. It had taken all of Aurora's considerable skill to even get his humanity back, and even then he still had moments where he lost himself. Oddly enough he never attacked anyone but himself when he lost control. "They'll heal....but you should go. As long as you're here Odette will never trust me, and I need her to trust me. I can't force her to do that, and with you here she really won't trust me." And he meant it, Aurora sighed and looked away then. "I know...your child...I'd like to help her. If she allows it please let me know if I can check her. The blood when it settles in for too long can cause damage...and I don't want that to happen." Aurora carefully admitted before she took a step back. John watched her go with his eyes dimming just a little bit as Aurora took off in her dragon form.

Odette didn't even look as John said goodnight and left her room. Her whole body shook and she closed the robe even tighter around her. Of course she knew he must have been through a lot too but part of her still wanted to make him understand. A few minutes after he left, she saw him walking out into the courtyard below. At first she thought he was alone but then she saw another form in the courtyard. Aurora. Odette felt her stomach flip and she looked away, stepping away from the window so she wouldn't have to watch them. She had done what she planned...she was pushing him away. On purpose. Her hand slowly moved down to her stomach, her fingertips brushing against it before she sat down on the edge of the bed. She couldn't tell him...if he found out, he would leave her for sure. He wouldn't want anything to do with her even after she had learned to trust him again. Her thoughts moved back to the scene in the garden where John had killed Jafar...Jafar was going to say something and she had a feeling she knew what that was. He was going to tell John that she was pregnant. With Jafar's child. It had only been two months so her bump barely existed but she knew it was still there. Odette brushed a few tears from her cheek before she looked towards the window again. A part of her wanted him to come back just so she could see him. To hear him. But he thought she hated him now...she had to keep it that way. Though he would notice her belly within a few months and have questions. She couldn't stay here...Odette swallowed and grabbed a bag from the closet before she started throwing clothes in it. It killed her to be leaving like this but she couldn't face the way he would look at her. The way he would pity her.

John finally left the courtyard, feeling a little faint, his hands had slowly transformed back into their regular appearance. He failed to notice that his hands were still bleeding as he made his way slowly back up to Odette's room. The door was slightly ajar and he hesitated only a moment before he stuck his head in just to see how she was doing. There was a suitcase on the bed and he froze at the sight of it, she was leaving him. He had been right...of course he had hoped that maybe just maybe she might have stayed with him. "Odette?" He asked cautiously as he stepped a little bit into the room. His voice sounded shaky even to him, and he felt like he was going to collapse but somehow he managed to stay upright through sheer force of will. She couldn't be leaving him could she? He leaned against the doorjamb and then glanced down at his hands. His hands were bloody...how long had they been bleeding? It was probably a bad sign if even he couldn't remember, he took a breath and tried to heal them only he couldn't.

Odette had almost finished packing all she could in one suitcase when she heard John's voice and she froze. She hadn't expected him to come back so soon...After a moment, she turned to look at him but stopped when she saw his hands. Blood was dripping from them and onto the floor and her stomach churned. "John? What...what happened to you?" She took a few steps towards him and she frowned. He had gashes in his palms and his skin was so pale...Without even thinking, she removed her robe and gently took his hands in hers, using the robe to try and stop the blood flow in his hands. She didn't care if he saw her bruises now. He had hurt himself...or Aurora had hurt him. One way or another, she had to try and stop the bleeding before he became even more ill from the blood loss. Once the flow had slowed, she ripped some of the fabric and bandaged his hands before she awkwardly took a step back from him. There was no doubt in her mind that he had seen the bag she was packing and she would have to explain herself somehow. She just didn't want to see the look he would give her when she told him...
