Odette finally gave up trying to spot Jafar again before she turned to John. The look in his eyes told her immediately that he was upset...she had kept secrets from him yet again but what he didn't understand was that it was for his benefit. He had enough on his plate with running the kingdom. And he was right, there was no way Jafar could be alive and none of them would know and that was exactly why she hadn't planned on telling him. What she had seen had just caught her off guard...she was better at hiding her nightmares than she was hiding things like this. "You're right...I know you're right. I'm sorry, I didn't want to bother you with this, especially since it's nothing. I'll take a rest with Damian when it's time for his nap...I'm sure that will help." She pressed a gentle kiss against John's scales and stroked his arm again. "I shouldn't have tried to hide that from you. Forgive me dear..."

John stared at her honestly not entirely sure how to respond without hurting her feelings. "I love you...but I can tell when you're not being entirely honest with me." He shifted on his legs as he spoke, his expression difficult to read. "I...I may be a King but as I told you when I got back, my family will always come first. Even though you may think you're bothering me, I can assure you that the opposite is true. You could never bother me, and I will wait for you to tell me what's going on. All I ask is that you let me know before it gets to be too difficult to manage all by yourself. I wish-" He broke off then and looked away from her, more then anything he wished that she'd trust him. Even after all this time though, she still didn't, if she had she would have told him what was going on. Instead of hiding it from him, as if their years together had meant nothing to her. Although he knew that was wrong of him to think, so he kept quiet on it as he stood up "Let's go back to Damian then." He said as he shifted back into his human form.

Odette had been resting with Damian in her arms for a few hours before she was awoken, feeling a sharp pain on her hips. It paralyzed her for a moment before it faded just long enough for her to slowly climb out of bed and make her way to the bathroom. She lifted the skirt of her dress so she could try and see what was wrong but then she froze. On her skin were dark fingermarks and nail indentions....much like the ones Jafar would leave on her. Her stomach flipped and Odette dropped her skirt like it would burn her. "No...they aren't real...not real.." She tried to calm herself down but then she heard Damian crying in the other room. "I'm right here sweetie..." Odette came out of the bathroom but froze once again when she saw a dark form hovering over her child. He turned his head and she saw his face...it was Jafar. Damian was crying and while Jafar's head was turned, he slid off the bed and ran around him, slamming into Odette's skirt as he tried to hide. "No....get out. Get out! You can't have him!" Odette shouted as she backed up, bringing Damian with her. Then her back pressed against the wall and her heart pounded. Jafar was blocking the door...there was no way she could run past him without being caught. "John! John!" Odette called for her husband as she kept Damian close to her. He was her only hope...that is if the Jafar she was seeing was real. Gods she hoped he wasn't but if she called John in and he didn't see anything, he would think she was insane again...but if it came to saving Damian, she was going to risk that.

John had spent a sleepless night in his room as he was working on some problems that had since arisen in the Kingdom. People had reported that their crops had died, even though the weather conditions were sound and there was no sign of pests having done so. It was a mystery and then there had been some other reports going on, some people had mentioned seeing an apparition frightening people in the woods. He sighed and got up from his desk, intent on checking on Damian and his wife she hadn't returned and he had a feeling she had fallen asleep there again. As he walked down the corridor he heard the sounds of a commotion in Damian's room and he hurried towards the room. His eyes widened when he heard Odette screaming his name and his steps surged forward until he burst into the room. His eyes widened when he saw the apparition there, it was Jafar but he wasn't fully formed. "Get out of my castle." John ordered his eyes flashing yellow as he used his magic. Jafar tried fighting him but then he disappeared in a flash of light, John let out a breath and glanced over at Odette. "Are you all right?" He asked as he stepped closer towards her and examined her, she looked frightened and upon closer examination she had injuries on her. He cursed and gently rested his hand on her arm, healing her as he did so. "What happened?" He asked as he scooped Damian into his arms, leading them out of Damian's room.

Jafar was moving in on them but just as he was a few inches from her, John burst in causing Jafar to turn. Within a few moments, the form was gone and Odette let out a relieved sigh even though she was still holding Damian desperately to her skirt. "I'm fine...we're fine..." She managed to speak, not noticing that more fingermarks had appeared on her arms. Thankfully John noticed them and healed them for her before removing them from Damian's room. "I don't know...I woke up because I felt a pain on my hips and when I looked, there...there were marks. Then I heard Damian crying and there he was...hovering over him. He was going to take him...He was going to take our baby.." Odette felt herself shaking before she gently took Damian from her husband's arms and hugged him like her life depended on it. "How is this happening? It's been years, why is he deciding to torment us now?" Odette whispered to herself before she placed a gently kiss on Damian's cheek.

John ran a hand through his hair, his eyes on both Damian and Odette. His wife was clearly frightened and unfortunately John didn't have any answers for her. He wasn't sure what was worse, not having the answers or wishing that he did. "I'm not sure how he survived...not yet anyway, but I will find out." He said as he glanced down at her. His thoughts went back to the reports that he had been reading earlier and he frowned, "I think he's been up to a lot more then we ever thought." He carefully admitted. "I received some reports earlier about an apparition terrifying the villagers...crops mysteriously dying. There has to be a connection somewhere that we're missing...I just need to find out what it is." He said. He had hoped to postpone his trip down the crops, but now with this sudden attack from Jafar he knew he didn't have a choice. "There could be something there that might help explain his resurrection." He explained carefully, not entirely sure how Odette would react.

Odette looked at John as he revealed what had been happening around their kingdom and her heart dropped. The people had suffered enough when Jafar had been in rule and now they were suffering again. Things had finally turned around for them and then this had to happen. After a moment, Odette swallowed and looked up at John. "Then I'll go with you. We can leave the children with their governess for now. This isn't something you should handle alone. Besides...if...if I'm there, it may draw him out. Then we can figure out why he's trying to destroy us..." Odette hoped John would listen to her and accept her help. For years she had been the queen that hid in the castle to protect her children and after today, she realized that that wouldn't solve anything. If she was going to help the kingdom, she had to quit hiding. John didn't deserve to handle everything on his own. "Let me help you John...please."

John glanced down at Odette in surprise, "Are you sure?" He asked as he stared down at her. She seemed sure and John silently wondered about the change. "It'll be the first time we've left the children on their own." He pointed out, honestly curious to see what she'd say about that. "We can leave tonight...do you trust me enough to fly?" He asked after a moment. If he flew, not only would they get there faster but he could get started immediately. "Or if you want we can leave in the morning...what do you think?" He asked. Odette hadn't left the castle in years, not for very long periods of time anyway and people talked. Some called her the Mad Queen, although that was a far cry from the truth and of course the Sick Queen. All for having married her own brother, which frustrated John to no end as he hated it.

When John mentioned that it would be the first time they had left the children alone, Odette hesitated for a moment. But she couldn't let that stop them. "They will be fine...they have the best governess possible. If they aren't safe with her, they wouldn't be safe with anyone." At John's next question, she nodded and gently took his hand with her free one. "Of course. We'll leave tonight. The faster we can rid our kingdom of him, the better." Her gaze moved down to Damian in her arms before she knelt down to let him stand. Once he was standing, she gently held his hands before she cupped his face. "Will you be alright if mommy leaves you for a little while? I promise I'll be back...but I have a big job for you. Look after your sister. Even though she's older, you're going to be king one day just like your daddy. And a king protects his own. Do you promise me to be a good little king while we're gone?"

Damian's eyes widened when his mom set him down, "I'm scared...I don't want you to leave." He whispered and John knelt to join Odette's side. "I promise we'll back before you know it and when we do, I'll have something just for you. Now do you think you can take care of Morgana?" He asked quietly. Damian slowly nodded, "I promise to take care of her." He said seriously before he suddenly dashed forward and hugged Odette tightly. "I love you mommy." He said and then rushed to hug John, "I love you daddy." He whispered and John gently hugged him back and pressed a kiss on his head. "I love you too...tell Morgana we love her." He said quietly and watched as Damian's governess approached. She had been summoned by one of the guards and now waited patiently for their farewells to end. John slowly straightened and approached the governess, "Watch over our children as if they were your own. If anything should happen I want to be notified immediately by the fastest raven." He explained seriously as he glanced over at his wife and son saying their good-byes. A part of him felt a sense of foreboding but he brushed it off as just anxiety over the return of Jafar.

Odette was grateful that John stepped in and she immediately accepted her son's hug. "I love you baby..." Odette let Damian give John a hug before she let him come back to her and she hugged him again. She didn't know if it was just the fear of leaving the children alone for the first time or not but...she could feel like something was going to happen. When she looked at John, she could tell he felt it too. She almost backed out but she couldn't do that now...Once she was finished saying her goodbyes to Damian, Odette let him go with the governess and took John's hand in hers. "Are you ready? If we go now, maybe we can be back by morning." She leaned up on her tip toes and pressed a kiss against his cheek. The less time they were away from the children, the better.

John nodded and hooked his arm around his wife, "Take care of our children." He said as one last directive before leaving with Odette. It was the one thing he regretted most, Odette and John hadn't even been gone the whole night when they received the raven. Damian had been taken and the only suspect was the Jafar apparition, after that John had issued a frantic search but it was too late. Damian was gone and no one could find him, finally they had to stop the search parties but John still searched. The years passed and soon it was Morgana's 22nd birthday, and her fiancee was on his way for their already announced wedding. She had grown into a beautiful woman, and John knew that their kingdom needed to make allies with other provinces. The best way was of course marriage, but that didn't mean that Morgana was thrilled about the news. Although John could hardly blame her, he knew more then anyone what it felt like to be told that his wedding had already been arranged. The wedding was that very night, and John had pulled out all the stops as he wanted his daughter's wedding to be everything and more. The entire town was decorated and there was a dance going on in the town square that would be going on until well in the midnight hour. The castle itself had been cleaned and decorated for the wedding, and John hoped Morgana at least liked her wedding dress.

Morgana was sitting by the vanity in her bedroom, her fingers nervously messing with a loose strand of hair that framed her face. She still couldn't believe the she was getting married today. Her parents had introduced her to Prince Derek when she was eighteen, making it very clear that this would be the man she would marry. She didn't fight them too much on it but Morgana knew that her parents knew how much she disapproved of the match. Derek was so...vain. He had even told her that the only reason he agreed to their marriage was because of her beauty. He didn't even care about her personality...he just wanted a trophy wife. Now she sat alone in her bedroom wearing the most beautiful gown she could have imagined...but she wasn't happy. The bodice of her dress was made of the finest lace with a halter neck that left her arms free. A lacy mini skirt clung to her curves, hidden beneath a sheer skirt of white fabric with a slit down her left leg. The gown had golden threads weaved in to accent the color of her hair. It must have cost her father a fortune...but she couldn't do this. She couldn't bring herself to marry this man. Before she could second guess herself, Morgana managed to sneak out of the castle without being seen. She hadn't bothered trying to change. By the time she had gotten out of the dress, she would have been caught. No...she had to get out now. As she ran through the forest, her blonde locks came loose from her updo causing them to bounce around behind her as she moved. Though as she came into a clearing, Morgana froze when she saw a group of bandits only a few feet from her. One of them noticed her and within moments, they started advancing. "Look at this boys...we've got the princess here in the flesh. Looks like someone doesn't want to get married...should we help her out?" The leader chuckled as he reached for her but Morgana managed to escape his grasp just in time, though part of her skirt wasn't so lucky. The fabric tore but that didn't stop her. Morgana ran, hearing the men coming after her. As she glanced over her shoulder to look, she didn't realize she was coming to a ridge before she was suddenly falling. A small scream left her lips as she fell, landing in a small lake beneath the ridge. The dress instantly soaked up the water, acting as a weight that almost kept her beneath the surface but Morgana fought. She broke through the surface, managing to get to a shallower part of the lake before she sat on her knees, the water resting around her waist then. The men quickly caught up to her and surrounded the lake, their eyes hungrily taking in her soaked body. The fabric of her dress had turned almost completely transparent and they could see her wedding lingerie beneath it...the way everything clung to her didn't leave much room for imagination for these men.

Damian made his way through the forest, his steps measured and careful as he heard voices. He stepped closer and frowned when he saw a young woman sitting in the middle of a lake, her dress clinging to her. Surrounding her were a group of men, normally Damian might have joined in but he felt like the young woman was familiar somehow. Damian grimaced as he took in the men's gazes and sighed before he silently stepped forward. "Hello gents...I see you're a little lost. Let me help you show you the way back." He said and whistled, there was a sudden screeching sound and a falcon suddenly arced through the air before clawing one of the men's eyes. Damian smirked and twirled his bow staff, using it to spray water in one of the guy's faces before he kicked him and sent him flying back. The other men attacked him but Damian easily took them down, he lifted his arm then and the falcon landed there. Damian held out his bow staff to the young woman for her to grasp onto, "I'm assuming that you took a wrong turn somewhere?" He asked as he waited for her to pull herself up. He kept his gaze trained away from her, even though he could definitely see her every curve. "Does your fiancee know you've left him at the altar?" He asked curiously over his shoulder.

One of the men had started to wade into the water towards her and Morgana scrambled back but then suddenly the men all turned their attention as another man came into play. At first Morgana became even more fearful but then this man didn't try to join in...instead, he helped her. Within moments he had single-handedly taken them all down with the help of a little falcon. Though as he lowered his bow to her, Morgana couldn't help but flinch before she hesitantly took a hold on the bow and let him pull her up. To her relief though he seemed to keep his gaze away from her. He must have known how the fabric clung to her yet he still gave her some of her dignity back. "I..I wasn't looking where I was going..." She admitted as she slowly climbed out of the water. The long part of her skirt had been ripped off, leaving just the short mini skirt to clothe her lower half but it was better than nothing. As the man mentioned her fiancee, Morgana flinched again and looked back where she had come from...or at least where she thought she had come from. This place was like a maze...she had never been this deep in the forest before...no one at the castle had. "Um..no, he doesn't...but I don't care if he finds out. That pig doesn't deserve a wife..." She muttered before she shook her head and instantly regretted her words. "I'm sorry..I shouldn't speak like that. It's unladylike..." Though Morgana hated being ladylike. It just reminded her of her obligations as a princess...A breeze moved around them and Morgana couldn't help but shiver, wrapping her arms around herself before she stole a glance at her savior. He had helped her and he didn't even know her name...and she didn't know his. "Thank you...for saving me. I'm Morgana."
