"You must be the King's wife? I'm afraid we've never had the exact pleasure have we?" Jafar appeared not too far behind Odette as he spoke. "That ridiculous tonic you've been taking has made it difficult for me to approach you." He said with a frown. "And before you cry for help, do remember the last time that you caused a ruckus...although you should thank me. If it weren't for me, you probably still would only be the King's plaything." He smiled then as if indulging himself with a private joke. He bowed to her then, his cloak snapping around him with the motion. "I am Jafar...the Court Sorcerer as appointed by your dear mother." He straightened back up and smirked at her. "You're probably wondering why I've been trying to contact you for so long. And it just so happens that you are the one person who can give me exactly what I want." He said and chuckled.

Odette spun around as she heard a voice behind her and she gasped. She took a few steps back from him but she couldn't go far thanks to the creek beside her. Though just as she was about to call for a guard, his words caught her attention and she slammed her lips shut. He was right...the rumors were still spreading about her first outburst and for John's sake, she didn't want to start any more of them. "My mother above anyone should be against magic like my father was...there's no way she would bring a sorcerer into our home so willingly." She snapped as she tried to stand tall. But this man still scared her. How he had pulled that little trick on her, she didn't know. "What could you possibly want from me?" Odette crossed her arms before her chest as she tried to look defiant. He was trying to bully her into letting him control her. That wasn't going to happen.

"Oh she was...but I have a way with people, you might say it's a gift." Jafar said as he loosely twirled the staff in his grip. "Oh it's quite simple really, help me lure your brother into a trap or your child will die. I have no problem killing infants so don't think I won't do it." He added with a carefree wave of his hand. "Through you, I could effectively rule the Kingdom. In fact I could rule several Kingdoms...but this Kingdom is the one I've chosen to start with. Even though you are in a incestous relationship with your brother the King...other rulers will still vie for your hand in marriage. You are after all quite a catch Milady...wouldn't you agree?" He asked with a little laugh. "If you try warning your brother or anyone else, I'll have him killed and this time it'll be for real. True love's kiss only goes so far, and you wouldn't want to have his death on your hands would you?" He asked as he moved one hand up to cup her cheek in an almost bruising grip.

Odette felt herself shrink back at his request and her stomach churned. "You would never...what do you have against my husband?" She demanded but her question was quickly answered. Of course she knew that their kingdom was highly valued. She had met the other kings from the surrounding kingdoms and plenty of them had tried to make an alliance through marriage with her. Her skin crawled as he cupped her cheek, his grip almost painful. Finally she had had enough. "Get your hands off of me you pig!" Odette snapped as she slapped his hand away, her heart pounding from the adrenaline. "I won't need to tell my husband. I will take you down myself and if you so much as touch John again, I will make sure you never see the light of day again." She growled, daring him to test her before she strode past him. Even though she was terrified, she stayed strong. She couldn't let him see how scared she was for John and for her child.

Jafar sighed, "Your husband is a nuisance I'd like to be rid of...besides he's not as suitable for my needs." He said with a dismissive wave of his other hand, he didn't seem to be too perturbed when Odette slapped his hand away. "Oh temper...I do think that might accidentally hurt the baby...and you wouldn't want that would you?" He asked just loud enough for her to hear him. "Well most people won't believe a raving mad woman when she's been seen talking to no one but herself." And to prove his point he disappeared, not too far off in the distance some people were pointing and looking in Odette's direction.

Odette froze in step the moment he mentioned her child getting hurt and her facade was broken. Her hands started to shake and she brushed a loose strand of hair out of her face. All she could do now was ignore him. He was trying to mess with her. Though when he spoke again, she gasped and spun around. To her surprise, Jafar was gone. There weren't even any footsteps other than her own and her heart dropped. Then she heard whispers and laughing and she continued to turn, seeing people staring at her from wherever she looked. "No...you can't do this to me, no..." Odette whimpered as tears started to form in her eyes. The laughing seemed to get louder and Odette covered her ears, crouching down where she stood. Finally she couldn't take it anymore and she bolted towards the castle, not even caring as she shoved people out of her way. She ripped past the guards that tried to calm her, past her handmaiden, and even past John. All she cared about was getting away. She had to find a way to get rid of these visions. Jafar mentioned that the tonic made it harder...maybe if she could get more. Odette burst into the court physician's workshop, tears streaming down her face as she fought for breath. "You must give me more of that tonic, please! I am begging you!" She rambled as she grabbed the court physician's robe.

The Court Physician looked up sharply as Odette burst into his chambers unannounced, "Your Highness...this is a little unexpected." He said carefully as he took in her current state. John burst into the room not far behind Odette, "What's going on?" He demanded as he moved to stand by Odette's side in a protective manner. The Court Physician sighed and took off his glasses, "I was just about to ask your wife that same question Your Grace." He explained as he studied Odette with a frown. "If I give you more tonic, you'll put your child at risk...and I cannot allow that." He said firmly as he slid the book he had been perusing off to the side. He moved to slide Odette's hands off of his robes in a nearly gentle motion, "Did you have another....vision?" He asked as he did so. John's eyes flicked between the two of them, looking more confused then ever. "More tonic? Is the dosage you gave her not enough?" He asked as he studied the Physician with a dark look.

Odette felt her heart sink when the physician told her she couldn't have anymore tonic and she turned as John spoke. For a moment she was confused, not remembering she was with him at all but then she realized he must have followed her. She did run through the castle in the middle of a breakdown...At the physician's question, she froze and looked down as her hands gripped her skirt. There was no denying that she had another vision but if she so much as told John what Jafar had said to her...both he and their child could be killed. She would have to speak to her mother...maybe she could get her to make Jafar leave. "I did...it was so real. But then I heard people whispering and it faded..they were all looking at me..." Odette's voice broke as she wrapped her arms around herself. She couldn't understand why this was all happening so suddenly...was it her pregnancy or was Jafar really trying to ruin the kingdom?

John's heart sank at those words, "You mean-" He broke off. The whispers around court had been bad before but if this new incident got around the people would turn on her. The Court Physician rubbed his temples as if in deep thought, "Well this might be difficult to explain, believe me Your Highness if I could I would give you the tonic. However with the baby....I'm afraid I can't." He said with an apologetic frown. "I can give you a sleeping potion, one that would be safe if taken lightly." He said eventually. John bit down on his bottom lip, "I don't want my wife or my child being hurt in any way Milo....you understand?" He demanded his tone low and threatening. Milo blinked and then nodded, "Yes of course Your Highness, I'd never hurt either of them!" He said fumbling a little with his glasses as they slid down past his nose.

Odette felt a wave of helplessness wash over her when she was denied the tonic and it took all of her strength to not fall to her knees in defeat at that moment. Though when he mentioned a sleeping potion, she felt a little bit better. "Please...anything that will make these visions stop. I don't want to be insane anymore..." She whispered and her hand lingered on her stomach. Ever since she and John had gotten married, she didn't feel like the proper wife to him. He spent so much time caring for her when it should be her caring for him. Why he stayed with her, she had no idea. How could he still love her after all of this?

John grasped her hand and gently held it in his own, "You're not insane...you just need rest. You're stressed and it's been difficult, but you're not insane. You're the most sane woman I know...and I know whatever is going on isn't you. There's something else at work here and I'm going to find out what it is, I promise." He said and pressed a gentle kiss on her knuckles. Milo cleared his throat, "I hate to interrupt but uh I can give the Queen some of the tonic now. Perhaps she can get that bedrest now." He said and John nodded, "That's a good idea, anything I can do to help...let me know. Send for me at once if anything comes up, please...Odette I want you to sleep and try to relax. Don't worry about the court, I can handle them." He said as reassuringly as he could.

Odette had taken the tonic from the court physician along with the sleeping potion. At first it had worked. She felt better getting the rest she needed and her relationship with John had gotten better. The whispers of the court were still there but she had learned not to care. Though one evening at dinner, she saw Jafar's face in almost every reflection around her. In the mirrors, her soup, everything. She had done well to hide her fear from John but the moment they were back into their room and John was sleep, Odette grabbed her bottle of sleeping potion. There was only half a bottle left since she had been taking it already for three weeks. Odette held the bottle in her hand for what seemed like hours. Milo had said that it could be bad if she took more than he prescribed but...if she didn't, she would get worse again. Finally after a few hours, she couldn't take it anymore. She opened the bottle and took the rest of the potion, only having enough time to slip the bottle beneath her mattress again before she laid back and drifted off to sleep. It was the most peaceful sleep she had had in her life...only the potion seemed to take it's work seriously. Within minutes, she slipped into a peaceful coma, her body looking like it was just sound asleep instead of fighting a deadly battle against the overdose of the sleeping potion.

John had thought things were doing better for his wife as the months passed. So he was surprised as anyone when he woke up one morning to find his wife unable to wake. Milo had figured out what had happened soon enough, "She overdosed on her sleeping potion." He said avoiding the King's eyes directly. John's whole body tensed, "She what?" He demanded as he turned on Milo. "I gave her a bottle with strict instructions not to go past them...I even told her the risks." Milo said his face pale white. John stepped forward and gripped Milo's shirt tugging him forward. "What risks?" He was absolutely livid at this point. "The potion will harm the child....taken in this dosage. I warned her...I thought she wouldn't have-" Milo broke off, sheer panic in his voice as he saw the deadly look in John's eyes. "You never should have given her that damned potion!" John roared and thrust Milo away from him. "Now thanks to you I may very well lose them both...guards!" John's guards showed up then, "Take this man to the dungeon...he'll be tried for poisoning the Queen." He said and watched with some grim satisfaction as Milo was dragged away. He glanced back at the bed where his wife lay still unconscious to the world. Why hadn't she trusted him enough to tell him what was going on? He'd never wanted her to react like this and it bothered him that she hadn't trusted him.

Odette didn't wake from her coma but in her mind, she was living out life like normal. The only difference was that nothing like her visions had happened. She had married John happily, the people happy and loving for their new rulers. There were no hidden whispers of judgement...She sat in a rocking chair in the nursery, holding her baby in her arms as she fed it. Life was perfect. There was nothing there that would make her realize that she wasn't even awake. It didn't take long for the rumors to spread throughout the kingdom that the mad queen had fallen ill. To most people, she had become a joke so they only laughed. No one seemed to care.

Ever since Odette had become unconscious, his mother had been encouraging him to take on a mistress. "You can't keep this up my darling." She insisted as she stared down at him. John rubbed his temples as he stared down at Odette's still unconscious body, "What else can I do? I'm not going to abandon her for women who aren't her. I love her...she is my wife and I...I'm falling apart without her." He said as he glanced down at Odette. He was barely keeping up appearances at Court, and already the whispers had grown concerning her. It bothered him that no one besides him even cared that she was ill like this. "The Gods have made their opinion known about your relationship with her. It's time you let her go and get married to someone else who is better suited for you." His mother said as she folded her arms and glared at him. John grimaced, "Damn the Gods mother! This is your own daughter! And she is dying with your grand child inside her....doesn't that matter to you?" He demanded and then broke off when he saw the look in his mother's eyes. "I see...get out. If you don't care then you shouldn't even be in her presence." He said gesturing for his mother to leave. Once she had left he turned his attention back to the bed, "I am so sorry my love." He whispered down to Odette and then glanced over at the door when he registered someone standing there. "My King...you called for me?" Jafar asked after he had bowed to John. "Yes I did...come in." John waited for Jafar to walk in.
